AJ and Wendi came out from Texas (where I’m from as well) with their family and friends to be wed at Cabrillo National Monument at the end of Point Loma. They absolutely fell in love with the spot during a previous visit and decided that is where they were getting married. It’s certainly not difficult to understand why. Even after as many times that I have been to Cabrillo, the beauty of the surroundings and power of the views never lose their effect. After a truly breathtaking ceremony on the cliffs overlooking the Pacific, we roamed around the grounds a bit to take advantage of the stunning backdrops for some portraits. Both AJ & Wendi are broadcast journalists and are used to being in front of the camera, which certainly made my job easy. (I had so many favorite images, I had a hard time narrowing down what I wanted to include in the post and got a little carried away). Then it was off to San Diego Bay for a relaxing reception cruise on the Aolani catamaran. It really was an amazing day and couldn’t have been more perfect. Congratulations AJ & Wendi!

When Randy and Jenny first approached me about photographing their wedding, they really stressed the importance of capturing the uniqueness of their event. Rather than a traditional reception, they were planning something more relaxed. A fiesta. A summer celebration with family and friends. Both Randy and Jenny surf and spend time in Mexico, so they wanted to bring that feeling and color to their event. Baja style tacos, great music, cervesas, and margaritas. Well they certainly succeeded, everyone really enjoyed themselves and the open-air courtyard of the Spanish Village Art Center in Balboa Park was the perfect location. Thank you Randy and Jenny for the opportunity to share and capture such a wonderful day!

Chris and Jennifer came out from Wyoming with their family and friends for a beautiful wedding on the beach at the iconic Hotel Del Coronado. I really had a great time with Chris and Jennifer, they both have such a wonderful sense of humor and neither of them had any problem relaxing and just being themselves. And together they are an absolutely perfect match. They have known each other since grade school and are truly best friends and soul mates. Two peas in a pod. Toward the end of the evening, Jennifer gave a rousing lip-sink performance of Guns N’ Roses Sweet Child O’ Mine complete with a cameo by her mom and air guitar that had everyone on their feet. Enjoy the images and please feel free to leave a comment!

One of the things I really love about what I do is that I get to work with such a wide variety of people from all over the country and the world. Though they live in San Diego now, Kenneth and Sherrie are originally from the South East and they and their family and friends certainly brought plenty of southern hospitality to their wedding day. It was a typical overcast ‘May Gray’ day right up to their ceremony and then the sun broke through and it turned out to be a lovely afternoon at La Jolla Cove. Their reception was held at The Marine Room, which is an absolutely beautiful location overlooking the ocean with the waves crashing right up to the windows. Congratulations Kenneth and Sherrie!

Happy Easter! When Alison asked me to capture her maternity portraits, I was really excited. I couldn’t think of a better way to spend a wonderful Easter afternoon than with Alison, Tad, and their beautiful dog Zoey. I photographed Alison and Tad’s engagement session and wedding, so to be able to watch their family grow and capture yet another important milestone in their lives really is amazing and why I like doing what I do so much. Stay tuned for Emily Elizabeth!

Erica didn’t want to hassle with a large, traditional wedding, so she and Ryan exchanged vows on the beach on Coronado with just a few friends, sand, and sky. We took advantage of the beautiful evening light for some photographs prior to their sunset ceremony, which was well, picture perfect of course. San Diego rarely disappoints. Congratulations Ryan and Erica!

Rollin and Tammy came down from Pasadena to have an intimate and moving wedding ceremony on the beach in front of the Hotel Del Coronado. The weather forecast was calling for thunderstorms, but Tammy was going to get married on the beach even if it was raining. So I came prepared with a jacket and umbrella, but luckily they didn’t have to be put to use. Though it was a bit windy, it turned out to be a wonderful day and the ominous clouds produced some beautiful and dramatic lighting. Congratulations Rollin and Tammy!

Jordan wasn’t crazy about the idea of senior portraits, but then he came across my website and decided to book a session while he was in San Diego visiting friends on spring break. We spent a couple of hours on a beautiful afternoon in Balboa Park and had a great time. I try to keep the session as relaxed and natural as possible and really feel it comes through in the photographs. Jordan is graduating in May and then off to Costa Rica for a little adventure.
